Golay Cells Available for Next Day Delivery

qs1260tt

Microtech is proud to announce that volume manufacturing of Golay Cells has been restarted. The product is now available for next day delivery and comes with accurate calibration data, optional amplifier with LabView Driver and set of accessories, including attenuator and low-pass THz filters.

"The Golay Cell is a workhorse among THz Detectors. It's not a show off, but it is there when you need it," commented Walter Hurlbut, R&D Manager at Microtech. "No worries about ordering liquid helium or pumping it down. It works at room temperature and keeps vacuum well for 15-20 years. Golay Cells are almost as sensitive as THz bolometers and certainly much better than pyroelectric detectors. The optional amplifier adds another factor of 10 to Golay Cell sensitivity. Attenuators and low pass filters come in handy as well."

"There were attempts in the past to improve Golay Cells design by using thinner membranes and wider input windows," commented Vladimir Kozlov, Microtech's Vice President. "While this helped to improve detector sensitivity, it detrimentally impacted reliability of Golay Cells. Microtech's product is very close to the original Golay Cell design that was tested for 10-15 years. Long term stability of detector specifications is one of the most critical parameters valued by our clients."
